Who can participate in the JUGENDJAZZORCHESTER.CH?
The JJO is aimed at talented musicians between the ages of 16 and 25 who already play music at a high level, either instrumentally or vocally. It doesn’t matter if you are a student without/with connection to a specific talent development program, a PreCollege participant or already studying music at a university. Ideally, you should have some prior knowledge of jazz. More important, however, is your curiosity about large-format ensemble playing and the will to contribute your personal expression to the collective and to improvise. All instruments – even “jazz untypical” ones – are welcome.

The JJO is committed to equal opportunities for all musicians. When and where does the project take place?
The JJO meets in winter and concludes the session with a tour taking place in February/March of the following year. There are four rehearsal weekends and one intensive rehearsal week. The tour then takes place over a period of approximately 10 days.
Unless otherwise communicated, all rehearsals take place at the Jazzcampus in Basel. The concert venues for the nationwide tour may vary from year to year.
